During the verses, you can turn your tone on "0", so all the high frequencies will be filtered out.
If you are quick enough, you can turn it back on at every "bam bam bam" part. In case thats too hard,
you could also try to pick very gently during the verses, it has a similar effect.
For the Chorus part I'd recommend barring the 2nd fret and using the pinky oder ring finger for the
F# on the D-string (note on the 4th fret).
