Every line in the lyrics corresponds to 1 measure (4 beats), except for
the last line of each chorus. In the last line of the chorus, the A chord,
denoted A*, receives only three beats, and the next measure begins directly on
the following D chord, which receives a full measure before the start of the
next verse.
This is as opposed to the D chord fulfilling the final 4th beat of
the measure on that line of the chorus. This can be considered a truncated
final measure to the chorus, which forms a pleasing lift to the song.
