Okay, here's the deal with this one, DO NOT comment that the lyrics are incorrect,
Mr. Waits decided that not knowing a language was no barrier to writing a
kick ass tune in said language.
So it's mostly a type of made up Germanese, that probably makes perfect sense in his
head. I've used phonetics to try to show what he's saying. If you don't like it,
make up your own language and sing it in that!
All that said, some words are almost German,
Kommienezuspadt sounds a whole lot like
Komme Nicht Zu Spät (Don't Ever Come Late) or (Don't Ever Be Late)
And
Sei pünktlich (Be on time!)
Seeing as these are on the Alice album, and the white rabbit was the one in the book
that was running late, these things may or may not be related.
It really is just the same four chords played over and over, and they are simple chords,
but playing and singing at the same time? Takes a little bit of practice.
Have included the picking style as it's a little easier to play while singing.
