My take on this wonderful song, recently heard on Sons of Anarchy. The Cadd9 is probably actually an F or a variation thereof, but I find it easier to add the finger picking with this, and it sounds pretty true to the original. [Verse 1]
G Cadd9 G
Mother, I tried to do right by you

               Cadd9 G
To do what you asked me to

       D G C
I did wrong and I knew.

  G Cadd9 G

                    Cadd9 G
Now I’m a digging a grave for you

It was all I could do.
