Throughout the song, there's two guitars: an acoustic playing rhythm, and an electric doing lead with some single-strum chords in between. In the intro, the acoustic is playing C and then an Fmaj7, and then there's a lead guitar/electric, which is playing a riff in a C shape over the Fmaj7. In other words, Darnielle is fingering a different chord with each guitar, so if you're playing this acoustic like me, I recommend hitting the Fmaj7 once, then lifting your ring finger to play the lick. The intro tab shows just what the electric is playing, but riffs are moved to where you could easily mix it in with the rhythm. For example, I believe the C riff in the intro is actually played over a C barre chord, but I've written it over an open C below. Same notes, just easier to one-man-band it :) Enjoy!
