Tuning: standard
Really heavy bass work on this, which is weird for the Mountain Goats. You could get
away with playing just this bassline acoustic and singing.
I've tried to keep the spacing consistent with rhythm. One dash is one eighth-note,
more or less.
Intro:
G|-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|----555400045554000455540000----------------------5-4--4442-0--0004----|
A|----------------------------2--22-2-3--3337-5--55----------------------| x1
E|-----------------------------------------------------------------------|

Verse A: (All the lengthening hours...)
G|-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|----55540000------------------------55540000---------------------------|
A|------------2--22-2-3--33-3-5--55-5---------2--22-2-3--33-3-5--55-5----|

Verse B: (The night is lovely as a rose...)
G|----2222222222222222---------------------------------------------------|

A|------------------------------------3333333333333333--------3-2-3------|
E|-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
Repeat Intro; Verse A; Verse B; then:
Chorus: (Oh sing, sing, sing...)
G|-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|----55540000------------------------55554444---------------------------|
A|------------2--22-2-3-2-0---0--00-----------2--22---3333333355555555---|
E|--------------------------3--------------------------------------------|

G|-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|----55540000------------------------55540000---------------------------|
A|------------2--22---3--33---0--00-----------2--22---3-2-0--------------|
E|----------------------------------------------------------3-2--22------|
Then just play the intro three times, cutting off the very ending of the third one-—end on the fourth-fret-D-string three-quarters of the way through, and then play an open D and let ring.
