Written by Meredith Willson; released on the album "With The Beatles". This was the first entirely acoustic ballad recorded by the Beatles. The original song was written for Willson's musical play "The Music Man" in 1957. The Beatles' version was inspired by Peggy Lee's cover of the song in 1961, and the song (together with "The Honeymoon Song", which they also covered in some of their live performances) became an inspiration for Paul McCartney's self-written song "And I Love Her". Paul sang the lead and played the bass, John played the rhythm guitar part on an acoustic guitar, George played the lead guitar parts and his memorable solo on a classical guitar, and Ringo played bongos instead of the regular drum kit. The song was performed live, but with the "common" arrangement (two electric guitars, bass and drums).
