Written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney; released on the album "A Hard Day's Night". "And I Love Her" was written by Paul, for his girlfriend, actress Jane Asher. The bridge was John's composition, and the guitar riff in the intro and outro came from George. It was featured in their first film "A Hard Day's Night". The song was recorded with an arrangement similar to their cover of "Till There Was You" on their previous album (Paul on bass and lead vocal, John on acoustic rhythm guitar, George playing the lead on a classical guitar, and Ringo on bongos, plus a pair of claves). In the beginning, however, the song had a very different arrangement with an electric 12-string lead and a full drum kit, no bridge, just a string of verses (including the solo), and missing the guitar riff from the intro and outro. This was their first song to have a key change (from E major/C# minor to F major/D minor). The song was performed live only once, with a similar arrangement to the live performances of "Till There Was You". Paul's bass part contains a quite unusual touch: two notes are played at the same time (making a perfect fifth) every time the C# minor (or D minor later in the song) chord is played.
