NOTE: THIS VERSION USES A CHORD WHICH DOES NOT ACTUALLY EXIST: 'Bm9alt' is played 4204 on GCEA or; Bm9, but take your pinkie off the E string I know it's pretty dodgy to make your own chords but I thought it was the easiest and best-sounding way to play. OTHER NOTE: You may find the switch from Asus4 to Bm9 tricky because of how far apart they are and how rapidly you must change your fingering, so here is a quick guide: From Asus4 - with your index finger on the C string and your middle finger on the G string, keep your index finger where it is and slide your middle finger down to fret 4. Then, add your pinkie and ring finger to the E and A strings respectivley. Hopefully you should get the hang of it eventually. OTHER OTHER NOTE: I realize UG does no recognize Bm9 as a chord. For those of you who don't know; Bm9 is played as 4254 on GCEA [Chords]: A 21xx Asus4 22xx Bm9 4254 Bm9alt 42x4 [Intro] A Asus4 A Asus4 A Asus4 A Asus4
       A Asus4
In the middle of the night I was sleeping sitting up

       A Asus4
When a doctor came to tell me, "Enough is enough."

              Bm9 Bm9alt
He brought me out into the hall, I could have sworn it was haunted

     Bm9 Bm9alt
And told me something that I didn't know that I wanted:

     A Asus4
To hear that there was nothing that I could do to save you

    A Asus4
The choir's gonna sing, and this thing is gonna kill you
[Verse 1]
 Bm9 Bm9alt
Something in my throat made my next words shake

   Bm9 Bm9alt
And something in the wires made the light-bulbs break

          A Asus4
There was glass inside my feet and raining down from the ceiling

   A Asus4
It opened up the scars that had just finished healing

    Bm9 Bm9alt
It tore apart the canyon running down your femur

Bm9 Bm9alt
I thought that it was beautiful, it made me a believer

    A Asus4
And as it opened I could hear you howling from your room

       A Asus4
But I hid out in the hall until the hurricane blew

        Bm9 Bm9alt
When I reappeared and tried to give you something for the pain

           Bm9 Bm9alt
You came to hating me again and just sang your refrain:
[Chorus]
     A Asus4
You had a new dream, it was more like a nightmare

          A Asus4
You were just a little kid, and they cut your hair

          Bm9 Bm9alt
Then they stuck you in machines, you came so close to dying

Bm9 Bm9alt
They should have listened, they thought that you were lying

A Asus4
Daddy was an asshole, he fucked you up;

          A Asus4
Built the gears in your head, now he greases them up

    Bm9 Bm9alt
And no one paid attention when you just stopped eating

Bm9 Bm9alt
Eighty-seven pounds, and this all bears repeating
A Asus4 x8 [Verse 2]
A Asus4
Tell me when you think that we became so unhappy

A Asus4
Wearing silver rings with nobody clapping

        Bm9 Bm9alt
When we moved here together we were so disappointed

Bm9 Bm9alt
Sleeping out of tune with our dreams disjointed

     A Asus4
It killed me to see you getting always rejected

      A Asus4
But I didn't mind the things you threw, the phones I deflected

    Bm9 Bm9alt
I didn't mind you blaming me for your mistakes

        Bm9 Bm9alt
I just held you in the door-frame through all of the earthquakes

        A Asus4
But you packed up your clothes in that bag every night

           A Asus4
And I would try to grab your ankles, what a pitiful sight

          Bm9 Bm9alt
But after over a year, I stopped trying to stop you

        Bm9 Bm9alt
From stomping out that door, coming back like you always do
[Bridge]
   A Asus4
Well no one's gonna fix it for us, no one can

             A Asus4
You say that, 'No one's gonna listen, and no one understands.'

          Bm9 Bm9alt
No there's no open doors and there's no way to get through

Bm9 Bm9alt
There's no other witnesses, just us two
[Verse 3]
        A Asus4
There's two people living in one small room

         A Asus4
From your two half-families tearing at you

Bm9 Bm9alt
Two ways to tell the story, no one worries

Bm9 Bm9alt
Two silver rings on our fingers in a hurry

A Asus4
Two people talking inside your brain

A Asus4
Two people believing that I'm the one to blame

Bm9 Bm9alt
Two different voices coming out of your mouth

        Bm9 Bm9alt
While I'm too cold to care and too sick to shout
[Chorus]
    A Asus4
You had a new dream, it was more like a nightmare

         A Asus4
You were just a little kid, and they cut your hair
