The bassline walks up to the G chord (after the key change, the A chord)
diatonically before the "I will take care of you" line.
I'm not sure if the guitar follows the bassline there, but it could be a fun embellishment for solo guitar.
It's the three notes below that chord in both sections, in the key of D,
and then the key of E after the key change. In standard tuning, you'd have to play the open D string,
which would be an octave up, but still sounds nice.
