Song: The Trees Artist: Rush Album: Hemispheres Ukulele chords for The Trees without the solo or instrumental break. I added the short riff before the first verse that I thought sounded close to the guitar riff in the original recording. It's not perfect but I liked the riff as a transition in the original song so I tried to mimic it as close as I could on the ukulele. I usually play the chorus and interlude chords before the second verse as written, but playing just the interlude sounds good too. [Intro] C Em Bm G D F G Am Am7* Am [Chorus 1]
        C Em Bm G
There is unrest in the forest; there is trouble with the trees

        D F G Am Am7* Am
For the Maples want more sunlight and the Oaks ignore their pleas
[Post-Chorus] C Em Bm G D F G Am Am7* Am (Exaggerated strum on chords)
    C G Am
A|--3---3h5p3-------2---2h3p2---------0~----|
E|--3----------3----3----------3------0~----|
C|--2---------------2-----------------0~----|
G|--0---------------0-----------------2~----|
[Interlude] E F [Verse 1]
    G Am F C G
The trouble with the Maples and they're quite convinced they're right

G Am F C G
They say the Oaks are just too lofty and they grab up all the light.

G Am F C G
But the Oaks can't help their feelings if they like the way they're made

          E F G G
And they wonder why the Maples can't be happy in their shade
[Pre-Chorus] G* F* E* D* [Chorus 2]
         C Em Bm G
There is trouble in the forest, and the creatures all have fled

        D F G Am Am7* Am
as the Maples scream oppression and the Oaks just shake their heads
[Transition to Skip Instrumental] C Em Bm G D F G Am Am7* Am [Interlude] E F [Verse 2]
       G Am F C G
So the Maples formed a union and demanded equal rights

    G Am F C G
The Oaks are just too greedy, we will make them give us light

            G Am F C G
Now there's no more Oak oppression, for they passed a noble law

        E F F Gadd9
And the trees are all kept equal by hatchet, axe, and saw
