This is my modification to the song. I used the "version 2" chord progression. This is really intended if you are playing alone and don't have someone else playing the bass part. The D(w/C#),(w/B),(w/A) are just the "bass" note you are playing with the D chord. For the D(w/C#), I use my pinky finger to play the bass note while keeping my other fingers on the D chord. For the D(w/B), I wrap my THUMB around the guitar to play the B bass note. I have slightly bigger hands. I picked this up from some John Mayer songs that I play. Just find a way that's best for you. The chorus is the same picking style as the verse except its with D, B, and A.
