Chords

"Song for a Blue Guitar" is in 6/8, with a few chords that hold through measures, and a couple spots where the song drops into half-time. I've added bar lines where the chord pattern changes to assist in sight reading, but keep in mind that there are two spots in the refrain where the song changes to half-time, and I've no clue how to notate that in UG. In the verses, Mark strums a pattern of hammer-ons/embellishments similar to below. Pay attention to the stumming pattern, and work the hammer-on to Dsus2 in on the downstroke, but hammer-on to Asus4 on the upstroke.

There's also a few spots the bass walks between chords that really make the song. I've notated these as chord inversion inside bar lines, but feel free to just play the root chord for a simpler approach. [Intro] |D |A |Em |Em |(x6) [Verse 1]
D A Em
  When everything we felt failed

D A Em
And some music soft in distant sails

D A Em
But it don't sound like it did before

D A |Em Em/F#|G |G |D
Then I know I'm left with nothing more than my own soul
[Interlude] |D |A |Em |Em |(x2) [Verse 2]
D A Em
  When pretty pictures face back

D A Em
But your coats aren't hanging on the rack
