Chords

The recording seems to have a separate bass line and rhythm guitar, but you could try to combine them using something like the intro/verses tabs below. The A base and F# base notes under the E and D chords reflect this bass line (but can of course be ignored). In the chorus, play only the base note to the chords on each bar to do the bass. Another subtle chord variation that I've captured on the recording is muting the high E-string on the D and G chords under the lyrics "Don't hold me down", creating a descending line. -------------------- TABS INTRO / VERSE --------------------

Climb on my back, you slide down my neck and use my face for a walk

                   C E7sus4/B
You can tell me to smile, you can make things worthwhile

               G
Need slap as I cry, probably laugh as I try

                          D/F#

Send me straight of to hell to find a story to tell

Choose your life, it's you choice to fall asleep with the noise

                   G
Yell at me and the guys when it's been one of those nights

                D/F#
You're probably right

                       C E7sus4/B
Oh, when you open your mouth the pretty words that roll out

                         G
You point your finger at me, you've seen the worst I can be

                          D/F#
I hope you know what that means

                       Em D/F#

                      C D
Not the talk, good of kind, and yesterday is behind

                        Em
And I believe that it's better that way

                           C D
You send me straight of to hell to find a story to tell

                             Em
For you to go there, and you know that I will

                         C D
But don't you step on my brain it drives a man insane

                       Em
And it's nothing to be laughing about

                 C D
I got nothing to prove, I'll be the fool for you

                     A
If there's anything, I'll help you out
[Chorus]
                   Em D/F# G
But don't you ever hold me down

                   Em D/F# G
But don't you ever hold me down

                                  Em D/F# G
You've got, you've got nothing to hold me down

           Em D/F# G
Don't ever hold me down
