The recording seems to have a separate bass line and rhythm guitar, but you could try to combine them using
something like the intro/verses tabs below. The A base and F# base notes under the E and D chords
reflect this bass line (but can of course be ignored). In the chorus, play only the base note to the chords
on each bar to do the bass.
Another subtle chord variation that I've captured on the recording is muting the high E-string on the D and
G chords under the lyrics "Don't hold me down", creating a descending line.
