Attempt to capture chords for the way Mike plays this in the video with Stu Larsen:
The Gadd2 I have listed, seems to be coming through the combination with the Asus2 Stu is playing with his
capo on 6. You can play without that change, but it sounds very nice to work the movement of the chord in.
You can also add a similar hammer on from the Em to an Esus4 in the verses to mimic the motion that comes
from the F#m11 Stu is playing. I didn't include that chord because if you use the Simplify function, I
believe that would become an E, which would not fit.
The chord listed as Bm* is sort of an open shaped Bm7 taking the place of a standard Bm through Mike's
picking pattern. JGuitar lists the full name of this chord as Bm#5add5 or Gmaj7/B.
Notes: Mike plays a lot of moving notes in the intro and instrumental sections (and Stu actually starts the
song by himself). I will attempt to tab some of this out, but if you play the G Em C Dsus4 in each of those
passages (4 beats for each chord), it fits nicely with what is played in the video. For a bit more motion
that still fits with chords, you can also play Am7 followed by D7 to replace the Dsus4 in each repeated
pattern. I would not make that substition in the second Instrumental section because Mike actually plays the
pattern as listed in that section. Where I have listed (G), the G chord serves as the beginning of the
following instrumental section.
In the the bridge at the end of the song, when Mike plays the Dsus4 to D, he finishes the walkdown with the
open B string as he moves to the Am7 or C.
I have also added a second version of the song at the end to list the chords Stu is playing.
