The "Lambton Worm" song was originally written by C.M. Leumane in 1867. It was created for a pantomime performed at the Tyne Theatre in Newcastle upon Tyne. The story of the Lambton Worm, though, predates the song, with its origins in oral tradition and later appearing in print in 1785 [Verse 1]
