Two million square feet of development on 10 acres

Disguised as the old city hall repurposing plan

It made it a long ways totally unnoticed

Then that Changed it was now on the radar

There was a city council meeting in July

Over 200 were there

The raw raw chamber crowd and rest of us

It lasted 3 hours I was the last to speak

After that meeting a group got together to oppose

To speak truth and stop this abomination of our down town

There were six main players, five experienced and  me

WE met every week, wrote in the paper and got ready

for the next meeting

We put a add in the paper, even posted sighs around town

The mayor was not happy, I emailed him and said it was just me

A trip to the City manager’s office to get those signs

That meeting came, no chance to talk, they muffled us

Several more meeting, finally the grand finale

A dog and pony show with 20 tables of citizens

Great sounding stuff but all totally pointless

Just a show to make it look like the public had some

At the end of that meeting I finally had a chance to speak

By now it was just me speaking out,

I got up to speak, half the room walked out

Requests for proposal went out
