dust in the air and smoke in his lungs

there’s rubble on the ground.

No shoes on his feet all the neighbours in the street

he looks back towards his home

and he falls to his knees and screams to the sky

cos he knows he’s all alone.

He knew this day was coming

his wife begged for them to flee

but he built this home with his bare hands

and he could never leave.

For the men they came in hundreds and they took away his life.
