[Intro] This is an old song from the mountains. "Bean Stringin's" were a favorite social time. Everyone raised a garden and the beans had to have the strings removed and be broken up for canning. This was boring work, so why not do it while you visited and sang with others. The chorus is made up from titles of old hymns that used to be favorites. The original author is unknown, so I have attributed it to my friend and mentor Charles Roger Lewis who used to sing it all over the hills of Eastern Kentucky. Stum in 4/4 time and emphasize alternating bass strings [Verse 1]
