The Man She Once Saw In Me
from
Vanara the Musical
The reason I made this leadsheet is that there are some important details not established
by the existing version.
More specifically, the bassline. This song is heavily reliant on the bowed double bass to drive the song.
So, the bassline is entirely included in the chord progression, either as the root or as otherwise
specifically indicated.
Another important attribute to the bassline is that it moves as little as possible. That means that
the vast majority of the time it is either a pedal, or moving in half or whole steps between chords.
Some notation clarifications
- A "2" at the end of the chord name indicates adding the 2 in addition to the basic 1-3-5 triad
For instance, Amin2 is played A-B-C-E
- A "sus" indicates that the 3rd is replaced with whichever the following number is. For instance,
"Fsus4" is played F-Bb-C
- A "b5" indicates that the 5th is lowered. For instance, Asus2(b5) is played A-B-Eb
- A slash indicates the bass movement. The chord before the slash is played, with the note after the slash
being played in the bass. So, A/C# is played LH: C# and RH: A-C#-E
- Inversion in the RH is unimportant, but the LH should play the root or the indicated note WITHOUT EXCEPTION
ENJOY!!! Have fun with all the key changes :)
