McFly (Danny Jones) Am G D/F# E Verse:
        Am G
It was Tuesday afternoon,
I got home from work quite soon,
    D/F#
I turned on the tv and,

     E
What did I see?

        Am
I saw World War Three,

G
Staring back at me,

    D/F# E
I thought I might wake up to reality,

               Am
There wasnt gonna be,

G
Yeah,

           D/F#
And all I could see was,

        E
This horrific tragedy.
[chorus]
               Am
In the Silence Of The City,

      G F
No mobile phones ring,

               Am
In the Silence Of The City,

       G F
You cannot hear a thing,

               Am
In the Silence Of The City,

     G F
The smiles are washed away,

               Am
In the Silence Of The City,

         G F
Theres nothing left to say.
Verse:
        Am
And New York, New York,

     G
So good they named you twice,

     D/F#
The city that never sleeps,

         E
Do you believe your eyes?

    Am
And by this act of war,

    G D/F# E
Big apple is eaten to the core,

     Am
And two tall towers,

   G
Crumble to the floor,

       D/F#
And Manhattan isn’t there,

       E
It’s there no more!
[chorus]
               Am
In the Silence Of The City,

      G F
No mobile phones ring,

               Am
In the Silence Of The City,

       G F
You cannot hear a thing,

               Am
In the Silence Of The City,

     G F
The smiles are washed away,

               Am
In the Silence Of The City,

         G F
Theres nothing left to say.

         Am
And hardened New York cops,

      G
With tears in their eyes,

     D/F#
Tired & worn out fire-fighters,

           E
Hoping to hear cries,

         Am
And emergency & medics,

              G
Overcome by exhaustion,

         D/F#
And all rescue workers,

             E
Filled with deep emotion.

               Am
In the Silence Of The City,

      G F
No mobile phones ring,

               Am
In the Silence Of The City,

       G F
You cannot hear a thing,

               Am
In the Silence Of The City,

     G F
The smiles are washed away,

               Am
In the Silence Of The City,

         G F
Theres nothing left to say.

        Am
The eleventh of September,

G
Two thousand & one,

   D/F#
The world trade centre,

         E
And the U.S. Pentagon,

         Am
These pictures that we see,

G
Almost defies belief,

         D/F#
On the streets of New York City,

              E
People are hit by sheer grief.

               Am
In the Silence Of The City,

      G F
No mobile phones ring,

               Am
In the Silence Of The City,

       G F
You cannot hear a thing,

               Am
In the Silence Of The City,

     G F
The smiles are washed away,

               Am
In the Silence Of The City,

         G F
Theres nothing left to say.

         G
The New York City skyline,

     F
We all admired before,

     G
The tall twin towers,

 Fmaj7
Simply are there no more.

         Am G F
In the Silence Of The City,

         Am G F
In the Silence Of The City,

         Am G F
In the Silence Of The City,

         Am G F
In the Silence Of The City,

         Am G F
In the Silence Of The City,

         Am G F
In the Silence Of The City,

         Am G F
In the Silence Of The City,

         Am
In the Silence.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I saw no one has yet posted this song.Quite a good song I might add especially when you consider how young Danny was (14/15 if i'm not mistaken). So,I know this song has a lot of those open chords which make it sound so great but I just didn't have the time to figure them out. These, however,I think work quite well with the song.
