For this excercise a meternome is heavily recommended. They can be found online for free if one is not owned.
Start this excercise at a slow tempo closer to 60 beats per minute. Do the warm up on quarter notes at first.
(One note gets one beat). Then switch to eight notes (One beat gets 2 notes) on the same excercise. Finally,
if you can switch to sixteenth notes do so (4 notes per beat) while maintaining tempo.
After working up to sixteenth notes beign to gradually raise the tempo. If you find yourself trying to push
for the tempo too hard, lower it by 5 beats per minute. After completing theis excercise all the way through
proceed to move everything up one fret. Once your pinky finger is reaching the 12th fret you can either stop,
or do the excercise backwards back down the neck.
Doing this once before a warmup at 60BPM means you are should be playing exactly 4 notes per second. This is
an extremely good warmup to help improve intonation, flexibility, and for heavy players this reduces long
term damage to finite muscles in the hands and wrist.
