e|---------------------------------------10-(12-| B|----------------------------8-10-11-12--------| G|------------------------7-(9)-----------------| D|----------------5-7-8-9-----------------------| A|------------5-(7)-----------------------------| E|--(0)-3-5-6-7---------------------------------|
Since we're in the key of E, our root or 'home'
notes will be Open E, 7th fret of the A string,
9th fret of the G string (All root notes in
parentheses)
e|----------------------------3-5-| B|------------------------3-(5)---| G|----------------0-2-3-4---------| D|------------0-(2)---------------| A|------0-1-2---------------------| E|--(0)-3-------------------------|
I encourage you to look up "Blues Backing Track
in E" on YouTube, and you can just play this tab
over those videos. They'll likely be 12-bar blues
meaning you will be able to easily discern when
to play the root or 'home' note of E.
Lastly, you can move this scale up and down the
neck of the guitar too. If you play the same
pattern laid out above, but start on the 5th
fret instead of open E as your first note,
you'll be playing blues in A.
Happy playing
