John Mayer – Angel From Montgomery Ziggo Dome (Guitar Live Tab)

Chords

In the song, he likes to switch between different triads of the C major chord shapes and does multiple hammer-ons and pull-offs. To give you some reference I've made a list of the different chord shapes he's using. I'll let you add your own embellishments as you see fit, but I've (sorta) tabbed the initial part of the verse and chorus just to show an example of the variations he adds. Strumming isn't 100% but the lyrics are lined with the chord changes. VERSE: G - C/E - G - C/E - G - C/E - D/F# - C - G CHORUS: G - F - C - G

Can't figure out exactly what he's doing in the intro but just play around with G and C triads. The slide to
the 9 and 8 set him up for the intro licks below.

Make me an angel, that flys from montgomery.
Make me a poster, of an old rodeo (<--- doesn't play the Fsus2 but hammers to C)
Just give me one thing that I can hold on to (<--- he uses a C/E(87558x) for this line)
To believe in this living is just a hard way to go
Between the fourth and first measures of the chorus he embellishes the G chord a lot, and also switches from pick to his hands pretty often. [Solo]

Not 100% on what he does at this point in the solo so you're on your own for that part. He uses G major triad
shapes again and then does some other stuff around the E-minor pentatonic.
