A really, *really* deep cut from the Iron & Wine discography. Like, so rare that you probably haven't heard it unless you picked up a bootleg from somewhere! I'm lucky enough to have such a bootleg, and it's a shame that this song should be lost to obscurity--it's got some great lyrics, a great little melody, and it's easy enough for every novice to pick up without any trouble. Key of G, no capo. [Verse 1]
    G C G
The girl down the street saw my ghost on the road

    C G D
But I sailed the backyard asleep in my boat

G C G
Both paddles broken, no sail for the wind

  C G D G
A bathtub, a bottle to drown myself in
[Verse 2]
        C G D G
And she ran through the town like the end was upon us

C G D
Screaming like birds above angry high seas

    C G D G
The newspaper boys pulled a high-dollar favor

       C G D
And my drunk brother sang of where they could find me
[Verse 3]
    G C G
The girl told the preacher her vision of doom

   C G D
He petted the Book said, "It's slightly too soon"

  G C G
A flashbulb, a nudge, and I left my best dream

    C G D G
And rose like the specter of Jasper County
