[1b]Flamenco guitar 'rasgueado' technique* (aka 'raking' the strings) works particularly well for the chord melody part as it suits the overall mood and tonality of the piece. It also works very well fingerpicked, or try 'sweep picking' it with a plectrum (in other words, use whichever one works best for you). Utilising these two methods creates what is known as an 'arpeggio' (an Italian word that translates as 'broken chord'). *Rake the strings by playing the notes rapidly one string at a time (from the lowest string to the highest string) in a 'sweeping' or 'brushing' motion with the back of your fingertips. Start with the little finger and use a downward motion, trying to ensure that each successive finger (rapidly) brushes the same string immediately after the one preceding it (creating a kind of 'delay' like effect).
