i'm having trouble finding the Daniel Johnston version for reference so im going by Kathy McCarty's cover, which i think is in the same key anyway but im not certain. the main piano tune goes a bit like this (give it a swing):
     F G F
E :-----3---2-0-2-3-|-----------------|
B :-----------------|-------1---------|
G :---0-------------|-----0---0-------|
D :-------0-0-------|---2-------2---2-|
A :-----------------|-3-----------3---|
E :-3---------------|-----------------|
the tune's just in the top strings, you can improvise the other part.
