I think the repetition of the word "before" is a musical joke, because this is NOT in 4. There's a measure of 3 in between the verse sections (everywhere with a *). In the chorus, the lines "it ain't before no more" is right where you have to count 5 instead of 4. Picture this song's original lyrics being something like "it ain't in four no more," haha.
